Prof. Arun Gupto is the Director of Comparative South Asian Studies in SAFAR and the Academic Director at the Institute of Advanced Communication, Education, and Research (IACER). He is engaged in the project Rethinking South Asian Studies, which critiques the existing modes of area studies as the research cuts across the conventional and hegemonic discourses of regionalism.
Some of his latest books are Goddesses of Kathmandu Valley: Grace, Rage, Knowledge (Routledge, 2017), Theory and Criticism: Recent Writings from South Asia (Routledge, 2022), and Seasons of the Divine (Rupa, 2024).
