The major areas of ongoing research at present are:
- Rethinking South Asian Studies
- Nepali Art: Spatiality, Textuality, and Sexuality
- Community Studies and Nepal–Bangladesh Memory Studies
As a research organization, SAFAR prepares scholars to understand the nuances of inquiry within the human sciences. Researchers gain training in scientific reasoning, research design, critical comparativism, and interdisciplinary pedagogy. In collaboration with the Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia (CASSA), SAFAR continues to expand its academic reach through seminars, publications, and collaborative projects.
